Wells in Bloom Festival: a series of floral and horticultural events including open gardens, lectures, guided walks and specialist plant fair. Held in July.

Moat Boat Race in August.

St. Cuthbert’s Church Festival: This week long festival of orchestral, instrumental and vocal events takes place at the end of August/early September.

Wells Festival of Literature. Held annually in October. Poetry and Short Story Competitions, and a programme of events. The Festival website contains rules, entry forms, useful tips, the text of last year’s winning entries, festival programme, booking form and a scrapbook.

Wells Carnival: held in November through the streets of Wells.

Christmas Craft Markets are held from November onwards in the Town Hall.

Wookey Hole Caves. Britain's oldest tourist attraction is a must see.

Milton Lodge Gardens. Mature Grade 2 listed terraced garden with outstanding views of Wells Cathedral

Glastonbury Abbey. The Abbey at Glastonbury is said to ve the first Christian Sanctuary in Great Britain

East Somerset Railway.  Branch line steamy action!

Cheddar Caves and Gorge.

Longleat.  The first Safari Park outside of Africa and home to Lord bath.
